Yes, this technique has already been used in humans and it managed to reduce the side effects of the drugs or its? previous formulation. I can tell because I recently graduated with a thesis on this topic! ;}

Some of them get inactive after they achieve their? therapeutic mission (e.g. cisplatin), some other get metabolised or excreted (field of pahrmacokinetics). ;]
